He is only a squad / utility player. We tried to get him in Jan but fell through. We are just finalising it when season finishes. It's not like he is going to our top signing.

This blokes gonna be free and back up to Rice, a squad filler, that Pellegrini likes. Providing his wages aren't ridiculous, I don't really have a problem with this type of signing. He's gotta be better than Obiang, hasn't he?

And as we all know he did a stunning job in his prime at 26 years old the last time Cardiff were in the Premiership under Mackay/Solkjaer

>>> What the fuck does Rice have to do with this? He was 16 when we took a cheap punt on him. Medel is in his 30's. Completely different circumstances.
Rice was very cheap to produce - that's what he has to do with it. He's one of the multitude of proofs that your aphorism doesn't work applied to footballers. Dele Alli - buy cheap, buy twice? Di Canio - buy cheap, buy twice?
Are the likes of Ayew at £20m or Carroll or Valencia or Hernandez or Arnautovic the proof that buying at the higher end is more reliable. Of course not. The higher the risk, the more the club has to lose. There is no sure-thing premium model when it comes to football signings - all come with significant risk.

decent defensive midfielder so would be decent on the cheap as long as we get other signings

"I would however have another BMW"
Remember to check that its indicators don't work before you buy.
Continuing the car analogy, I currently drive a Volvo V40. I would say I am currently driving the car equivalent of Gary Medel. It's unspectacular but it does everything I want it to. Sometimes it can work? We can't have a Rolls Royce in every position.
But yes, I can't say I'm overwhelmed with excitement. However, if he proves a cheap and versatile useful squad member, it won't be the worst signing we've ever made.

Having bought cars at both ends of the market. I can tell you I wont be buying another Datsun. I would however have another BMW.

Complete nonsense when applied to the transfer market imo. The whole idea is to buy something cheaper than its value. Is Rice 'buy cheap, buy twice' with his £80m valuation? Of course not.
It's basically meaningless sales patter to get you to buy the better fridge in the showroom.

Would have made a difference in January, useful in few positions, but would rather not sign old.

useful squad player. far more useful than the likes of obiang and perez. can play 3 positions, so whilst just a backup to fill out the squad, a definite step up.

It seems like the best part of 100,000 euros in 2019 gets you a slightly more exotic (well in surname at least) Peter Butler

9 times out of 10 you get exactly what you pay for in life. Spend a little more on quality and whatever you buy will serve you well, be it a car, washing machine or a footballer.
Buy cheap, buy twice. Some things are cheap for a reason.
How these two cunts have become billionaires amazes me.

Old soak?
Medel will be Declan Rice's replacement after Dildo One cashes in on our Anglo-Irish defensive midfielder. It's a grand life.
